Principal's Message

Principal’s Message 2018-2019 Ryerson Public School

“Building a Culture of Excellence ”

“Together We Are Better”

At Ryerson Public School the staff is committed to working in a spirit of mutual respect and cooperation with students and community partners, to promote a learning environment where students can achieve their full potential. We invite everyone to work together to ensure that all of our students meet success. All programs provided to students at Ryerson are based on the Ontario Curriculum, and on guidelines provided by the Halton District School Board. Assessment and evaluation of students is consistent with both Ministry and HDSB requirements. We are looking forward to a year in which all of our students will experience success. Within a collaborative community partnership, we are committed to providing a safe and secure environment, to enable all of our students to grow intellectually, socially, emotionally, physically, and culturally.

Developing student literacy and numeracy skills is the focus of our programs. However, skills cannot be attained in isolation. We are part of a learning community that provides a safe and secure environment fostering character traits, such as respect and responsibility, while improving student achievement. Each day brings new challenges and opportunities for all of us, and together we become better for these experiences. Welcoming and supporting parents/guardians to take an active role in their child's learning is a key role of a school administrator. Parent involvement is welcomed. Together, we will make your child's years at Ryerson successful.

At Ryerson Public School, we have very high expectations for student behaviour and achievement. Our excellent and dedicated staff works collaboratively with each other, our students, and our parents. We work hard to help students feel comfortable, and show them that we care about them as individuals. Everyone at Ryerson has the responsibility of showing respect for one another as well as oneself through both their words and actions. We believe in the potential and ultimate success of each individual and strive to help all students believe in themselves and achieve their goals.

The 2018-2019 school year will be an exciting one at Ryerson. I would like to welcome all new families to our school and wish all of you a very pleasant school year filled with academic success and enjoyment. I hope that all of our students are looking forward to this school year and that each student will do his or her best to get the most out of each and every school day. Once again, we invite all parents to work closely with us throughout the year. A positive partnership between school and home is so important for the success of our students. Please do not hesitate to contact the school (905-632-1766) should you have any questions or concerns.

Students, have a great school year! Work hard! Be nice! Do your best! Believe in yourself!

Sincere regards,

Mrs. D. Laprade

  • Support Ryerson - Indigo Adopt A School Program

    Dear Parents,

I would like to personally invite you to join me in making a difference in the lives of the children at Ryerson Public School by supporting us in the upcoming Indigo Adopt a School program!

There are three ways that our community can support our school online at

    1. Book Bonus: For every two books you donate to our school online, the Love of Reading Foundation will donate a bonus book, up to 100 books!*
    2. Tell a Story, Give a Story: Every time you post a story to our Adopt a School profile, the Love of Reading Foundation will donate one book in support of our school library, up to 20 books!
    3. Adopt a School Story Contest: “Heart” your favourite story to help a school for a chance to win* big!  The five most-loved stories in each province will be entered in a random draw for a chance to win a $2,500 Indigo eGiftcard to purchase books for their adopted school. The remaining four top “hearted” schools in each province will win a $500 Indigo eGiftcard to purchase books! Choose wisely because you only get one shot to “Heart” a story!

Please note that 100% of all online donations directed to our school will go towards supporting our students and school library! However, our school has not been adopted by an Indigo, Chapters or Coles store this year, so donations made in-store will not go to our school.

Our school is going to receive every dollar raised to support our library and a 30% discount off books when we shop at Indigo, Chapters and Coles using program donations.

Please visit until October 7 to show your support for our library! I look forward to surprising the staff and children at Ryerson Public School with all the new library books this year!

  • Free Ryerson Shirts for students

We would like to thank our families for the great turn-out at last night’s Open House.   Our families and students did a fantastic job participating in the ‘Ryerson Awesome Adventure’ checklist, a great time was had by all!

During Open House, students received a Free Ryerson T-Shirt they can wear during our events and spirit days.   We have purchased a T-Shirt for every student in our school and will be distributing the shirts to our students who were unable to attend the Open House.
It will take our office team a few business days to complete the distribution process.

Thanks so much for your patience!
