Principal's Message

Principal’s Message 2018-2019 Ryerson Public School

“Building a Culture of Excellence ”

“Together We Are Better”

At Ryerson Public School the staff is committed to working in a spirit of mutual respect and cooperation with students and community partners, to promote a learning environment where students can achieve their full potential. We invite everyone to work together to ensure that all of our students meet success. All programs provided to students at Ryerson are based on the Ontario Curriculum, and on guidelines provided by the Halton District School Board. Assessment and evaluation of students is consistent with both Ministry and HDSB requirements. We are looking forward to a year in which all of our students will experience success. Within a collaborative community partnership, we are committed to providing a safe and secure environment, to enable all of our students to grow intellectually, socially, emotionally, physically, and culturally.

Developing student literacy and numeracy skills is the focus of our programs. However, skills cannot be attained in isolation. We are part of a learning community that provides a safe and secure environment fostering character traits, such as respect and responsibility, while improving student achievement. Each day brings new challenges and opportunities for all of us, and together we become better for these experiences. Welcoming and supporting parents/guardians to take an active role in their child's learning is a key role of a school administrator. Parent involvement is welcomed. Together, we will make your child's years at Ryerson successful.

At Ryerson Public School, we have very high expectations for student behaviour and achievement. Our excellent and dedicated staff works collaboratively with each other, our students, and our parents. We work hard to help students feel comfortable, and show them that we care about them as individuals. Everyone at Ryerson has the responsibility of showing respect for one another as well as oneself through both their words and actions. We believe in the potential and ultimate success of each individual and strive to help all students believe in themselves and achieve their goals.

The 2018-2019 school year will be an exciting one at Ryerson. I would like to welcome all new families to our school and wish all of you a very pleasant school year filled with academic success and enjoyment. I hope that all of our students are looking forward to this school year and that each student will do his or her best to get the most out of each and every school day. Once again, we invite all parents to work closely with us throughout the year. A positive partnership between school and home is so important for the success of our students. Please do not hesitate to contact the school (905-632-1766) should you have any questions or concerns.

Students, have a great school year! Work hard! Be nice! Do your best! Believe in yourself!

Sincere regards,

Mrs. D. Laprade

Principal

  • Halloween - Wed Oct 31st

    Hallowe'en will soon be here!

As always, our goal is to enjoy a productive, happy and safe day at school. In classrooms, staff will provide a range of activities with opportunity for choice. To ensure that our school is meeting the needs of all of our families, we ask for your support:

    1. If for personal, religious or cultural reasons, your family does not celebrate this event, please inform the school to ensure your child's needs are being met.

    2. With consideration of allergies and the healthy food guidelines, there will NOT be any sharing of food/treats. Students are welcome to pack special treats/snacks for themselves.

    3. On the 31st, all students are welcome to dress in: regular clothing, orange and black or in costume (no scary masks, blood, gore or weapons).

    4. A parade will take place @ 8:45am. Parents and family are welcome to line the main front hallway area to watch as the children pass by.

    5. Alternate activities will be available in the library for students who do not celebrate Hallowe'en or do not wish to participate in the parade.

    6. Students in costume will be asked to change into regular clothes before first break to preserve costumes. *Remember to pack a change of clothes*
