Principal’s Message 2018-2019 Ryerson Public School

“Building a Culture of Excellence ”

“Together We Are Better”

At Ryerson Public School the staff is committed to working in a spirit of mutual respect and cooperation with students and community partners, to promote a learning environment where students can achieve their full potential. We invite everyone to work together to ensure that all of our students meet success. All programs provided to students at Ryerson are based on the Ontario Curriculum, and on guidelines provided by the Halton District School Board. Assessment and evaluation of students is consistent with both Ministry and HDSB requirements. We are looking forward to a year in which all of our students will experience success. Within a collaborative community partnership, we are committed to providing a safe and secure environment, to enable all of our students to grow intellectually, socially, emotionally, physically, and culturally.

Developing student literacy and numeracy skills is the focus of our programs. However, skills cannot be attained in isolation. We are part of a learning community that provides a safe and secure environment fostering character traits, such as respect and responsibility, while improving student achievement. Each day brings new challenges and opportunities for all of us, and together we become better for these experiences. Welcoming and supporting parents/guardians to take an active role in their child's learning is a key role of a school administrator. Parent involvement is welcomed. Together, we will make your child's years at Ryerson successful.

At Ryerson Public School, we have very high expectations for student behaviour and achievement. Our excellent and dedicated staff works collaboratively with each other, our students, and our parents. We work hard to help students feel comfortable, and show them that we care about them as individuals. Everyone at Ryerson has the responsibility of showing respect for one another as well as oneself through both their words and actions. We believe in the potential and ultimate success of each individual and strive to help all students believe in themselves and achieve their goals.

The 2018-2019 school year will be an exciting one at Ryerson. I would like to welcome all new families to our school and wish all of you a very pleasant school year filled with academic success and enjoyment. I hope that all of our students are looking forward to this school year and that each student will do his or her best to get the most out of each and every school day. Once again, we invite all parents to work closely with us throughout the year. A positive partnership between school and home is so important for the success of our students. Please do not hesitate to contact the school (905-632-1766) should you have any questions or concerns.

Students, have a great school year! Work hard! Be nice! Do your best! Believe in yourself!

Sincere regards,

Mrs. D. Laprade

    Principal’s Blog:

The last day of 2018 at Ryerson ended with a special Ryerson Character Awards Assembly. A select few students from each class received a very special award for demonstrating exemplary Character Traits for this first portion of the school year.  Family members of award recipients were invited to attend.  Students and staff who participated in Prince and the Penguinmusical as well as Junglesport were recognized for their participation, risk taking and personal growth.

Once again, many thanks to the many School Council members who participated in organizing the special fundraisers to make the musical extra special and profitable!

Improvements to Ryerson’s facility continue.  New carpet in our primary classroom gathering areas, on the main floor,  was installed.  Also quieter hand dryers were swapped out for the previous noisy version.

As the weather continues to be unpredictable, layers and warm winter clothing including boots is recommended.
