Ryerson Character Trait Assembly (Friendship to Cooperation)
On March 1st we celebrated our learning and efforts applied to Friendship: being kind and caring while including everyone in activities. We reflected on our Tribes Day (Feb.14, Valentine's Day) when we celebrated friendship in our mixed grade Tribes groups by making friendship bracelets and decorating mini pink paper t-shirts with friendship messages. These t-shirts are now on display in our hallway. We officially recognized students from each class who demonstrated exemplary qualities of friendship, with certificates. We also recognized the efforts of Mrs. Bernier and the Book Fair volunteers for their accomplishments in running a smooth and profitable event that acquired many new book titles for our library. Special mention was given to students in Gr. 4-6 who participated in the recent Ryerson Speech Competition. Our Student of Excellence from Grade 6 was also revealed, Jerahmiah T.
The Bell choir, directed by Mrs. Burton, presented an exemplary performance. Mrs. Roberts Gr. 1/2 class performed (a tableau to represent each area of) Cooperation: working together, helping each other, teamwork, sharing and caring and being there for each other. For the month of March we will continue to recognize cooperative behavior through peer and staff presentations of Roadrunner Recognition and focus on cooperative attributes in our daily learning.
